Britain’s Duchess of Cornwall will visit a holiday site for disabled people.
The 66-year-old royal will be given a tour of Crathie Opportunity Holidays’ cottages, which provide self-catered accommodation for those who are less mobile and overlook the Queen’s Balmoral estate in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
The derelict stables in the courtyard of Crathie Kirk, which sits on the banks of the River Dee, were transformed into four wheelchair-accessible cottages in 2002, after years of fundraising by local volunteers.
Camilla – who is known of as the Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland – will unveil a plaque in memory of Margaret Boyd, who was a significant donor to Crathie Opportunity Holidays.
The Duchess of Cornwall, who has been Patron of the charity since 2007, will meet members of Ms Boyd’s family during her visit as well as supporters and employees.
The organisation’s aim is to make it possible for everyone to find suitable accommodation of a high standard and each cottage was designed to offer maximum accessibility and have been equipped with fixtures and free-standing aids with disabled guests in mind.
