Bring Me The Horizon drop new album after surprise announcement

Bring Me The Horizon have dropped their new album, after giving fans less than a day’s notice.

The British rockers took to Instagram on Thursday (23.05.24) to make the shock announcement that they were releasing their new record, ‘POST HUMAN: NeX GEn’, which has been delayed since last August, just hours later at midnight.

A post on Bring Me The Horizon’s official Instagram page read: “BMTH invites you to Ascend!+ POST HUMAN: NeX GEn [out midnight 24.05] (sic)”

Frontman Oli Sykes commented on the post: “there’s a place i wanna take u (sic)”

Last month, the ‘Throne’ hitmakers teased their seventh studio album by sharing a clip that said: “You cling to your virtual identity as if it were your very soul. Pathetic. I’m here to wipe away the detritus of your existence. All these thoughts, these memories, they are but a fleeting echo in an endless void. And just like that, you cease to exist in a digital realm. A mere blip erased from the annals of cyberspace. Farewell insignificant content.”

“It’s time for a new era. Initialising NeX GEn.”

In March, the BRIT Award-winning rockers – who won their first-ever BRIT for Best Rock/Alternative Act earlier this year – revealed the record was “nearly finished”.

Oli said: “It’s nearly finished, but it’s not finished. Every time we think we’ve got it; we get another song.

“It’s going to be right good though, it’s our best album ever … worth the wait.”

Drummer Matt Nicholls added: “It’s not quite finished yet, but it’s closer than it ever has been.

“We came back off tour and – we’ve got a studio in Sheffield – just cracked on.

“Got our heads down with everyone all together and we’re getting there. It’s this close…

“It is really good, and we’re really happy with it but it takes time, doesn’t it?

“You can’t rush these things.”

They were previously forced to push back the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Post Human: Survival Horror’, which was originally set for release on September 15, 2023, due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

Then, in December, it was announced that programmer and keyboardist Jordan Fish – who was instrumental in their evolved sound – had departed the group.
