‘Brain in Gear’ has been commissioned for a full series on BBC Two.
The Gbemisola Ikumelo-written comedy has been commissioned by the broadcaster after the pilot received a BAFTA nomination for Best Short Form Programme.
Gbemisola – who also stars in the comedy – said: "This is a legit dream coming true moment for me and I keep finding myself asking, ‘Did the BBC actually just give me my own show?’
"I’m sure it will sink in soon enough, but for now I’m just revelling in all of the exciting possibilities that are presented by this becoming a series."
The flat-share comedy tells the story of Remi, a single woman in her late 20s who struggles to navigate the contradictory advice from her inner thoughts.
Remi’s efforts to succeed in life are undermined by the competing influences of her alter-egos, Boss B**** Remi and Dark Remi.
Josh Cole, the head of comedy at BBC Studios, said: "We are delighted to be bringing Gbemisola’s brilliant vision and unique worldview to life with ‘Brain in Gear’.

The show’s pilot is currently available to watch via the BBC iPlayer, and it’s become the latest of the Comedy Shorts pilots to have been commissioned for a full series.
‘Lazy Susan’, from Freya Parker and Celeste Dring, is set to debut on BBC Three.
Meanwhile, ‘Mandy’ – which is written and directed by Diane Morgan – will air on BBC Two in August.
