Boyzone to mark 25th anniversary TV documentary

Boyzone are reportedly planning to mark their 25th anniversary with a TV documentary.
Singer Ronan Keating – who is joined by Keith Duffy, Michael Graham and Shane Lynch in the Irish boy band – is believed to be keen on the idea of making a biographical film similar to ‘Take That’s: For the Record’ , which will depict their rise to fame, success, longevity and the story of late band member Stephen Gately, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 33.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "The lads have the potential to deliver a fascinating documentary about their rise, success, world tours, Stephen’s death, comebacks and staying together. The template was set by Take That, who did similar show in 2005 before reforming.
"It was not only compelling viewing, but reignited their appeal. For Ronan there is no other option, the 25th will be a huge deal and may be the last major milestone for them to celebrate in style."
The ‘No Matter What’ hitmaker previously shared his plans for a greatest hits tour and new album to ring in the milestone.
He told BANG Showbiz: "I love touring with Boyzone, I love being with the lads. We celebrate 25 years as a group next year, so we’ll definitely mark that in some shape or form. The four of us have started talking, we don’t know if it’s going to be a tour or an album. I expect it will be a bit of both."
Ronan, 39, insists Stephen will be a big part of the anniversary concerts and they’ll be singing a tribute to him each night of the tour.
He said: "In any show we do, we always honour Stephen in some way, quite often we’ll sing a song and use his voice on stage. When the four of us are together we always feel like he’s on the stage. It’s very important to us that we keep his memory alive like that, and he’ll be a big part of the 25-year anniversary for sure."
However, there won’t be a new Boyzone track with Stephen’s voice on as Ronan admits there are no recordings they could use to make a fresh song.
He said: "I don’t think there’s much in the way of archive recordings of Steven that we can use. We just have samples of his voice that we use on stage. We don’t know have anything in the vaults that we can use."
