Boyhood sweeps London Critics’ Circle Film Awards


‘Boyhood’ was the big winner at last night’s (18.01.15) London Critics’ Circle Film Awards.

The gong for Film of the Year was handed to the coming-of-age drama, which beat off competition from box office hits including ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ and ‘The Theory of Everything’.

Two members of the cast and crew picked up awards for their roles in the film. Richard Linklater received the honour of Director of the Year whilst Patricia Arquette was given an award for Supporting Actress of the Year.

The Dilys Powell Award for Excellence in Film was handed to Miranda Richardson whilst Jonathan Glazer picked up the gong for ‘Under the Skin’, which received the Attenborough Award for British Film of the Year.

Composer, Mica Levi, accepted the Technical Achievement Award for her score on the 2013 film starring Scarlett Johansson.

The star-studded event – which was held at London’s May Fair hotel – was attended by Timothy Spall, who received the British Actor of the Year award gong for ‘Mr Turner’ whilst Rosamund Pike accepted her award for British Actress of the Year for ‘Gone Girl’ and ‘What We Did on Our Holiday’ via video link.

Michael Keaton and Julianne Moore picked up the awards for Actor and Actress of the Year respectively.
