Bonnie Anderson says it’s ‘crazy’ juggling Neighbours and singing

Bonnie Anderson finds it "crazy" juggling her singing career with her soap work on ‘Neighbours’.
The 24-year-old actress – who shot to fame as the first winner of reality TV show ‘Australia’s Got Talent’ in 2007 aged 12 – relishes the hectic lifestyle of shooting soap scenes and then going home to work on her music, but she tells herself she "has to make it work".
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Bonnie – who plays Bea Nilsson in the Channel 5 soap – joked: "I never sleep, you know … no, not really, but it is crazy and that’s how I like to live my life.
"I’m a bit of a jack-in-the-box. My whole life I’ve been gigging and singing, and travelling and all of that stuff.
"It’s been really nice to be able to separate the two and do the show.
"We do long hours on the show, it’s very, very long. But you just have to make it work. You go home and you just keep working."
Bonnie’s co-star Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy) – who is the lead singer of band Waiting Room – admitted the ‘Raise the Bar’ hitmaker has been a "brilliant" addition to the soap.
She said: "My performing came later in life and it’s fun and so forth. Bonnie has been performing professionally for a long time now.
"She’s comes into the show with this beautiful song ‘Sorry’, she’s a fully-fledged recording star in Australia. She’s often in the top 40 with her music. It’s brilliant."
Bonnie added: "It’s very special. It’s a nice little crossover, I’m doing it in my own world and then I’ve got another story to tell as Bea, which is really cool. It’s a little bit of a different version of the song on the show and then you can hear the released version."
And she hasn’t ruled out potentially collaborating with Alan on a song in the future.
Bonnie said: "Maybe one day, we’ll see how we go. Karl likes to write some songs, so does Bea. We’ll just have to see what happens."
‘Neighbours’ airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
