Blue Peter hosts excited to meet new dog Henry

‘Blue Peter’ is introducing its new rescue dog Henry as a beloved regular member of the cast.
The adorable Beagle Basset Hound cross – a "very inquisitive" boy who loves long walks – will make his debut on Thursday (04.04.19) as viewers of the CBBC show get their first look at the newest addition to the team.
Presenter Lindsey Russell – who appears every week alongside co-host Radzi Chinyanganya – said: "Henry is such a friendly dog and I can’t wait to have him in the studio every week.
"He’s already met the crew, had a good sniff around, and seems to love it. Pets have always been such an important part of ‘Blue Peter’ and it’s so exciting to be welcoming the latest one to the show."
New pooch Henry – who was adopted from Dogs Trust – is the latest in a long line of pets on the programme, including nine other dogs, five tortoises, nine cats and two parrots.
Viewers will see his story, as he leaves the re-homing centre and adapts to family life in a new home, before making his first visit to the offices and studio.
On this week’s episode, CBBC’s ‘Pets Factor’ vet Rory Cowlam is set to give him a check-up live on air to make sure he’s fit and healthy.
Henry follows his cute predecessor Barney – also from Dogs Trust – who was adopted in 2009 by then-presenter Helen Skelton.
Back in 1962, ‘Blue Peter’ introduced its first furry friend Petra – who has since been immortalised as a statue in the show’s garden at MediaCityUK in Salford – while Shep’s stint, which began in 1971, will also be memorable for many viewers.
