Black Mirror’s Will Poulter takes Twitter break after Bandersnatch criticism

Will Poulter has quit Twitter after ‘Black Mirror’ criticism for the sake of his mental health.
The 25-year-old actor played video game developer Colin Ritman in the dark anthology series’ new interactive special ‘Bandersnatch’, and he has addressed some backlash over the episode.
In a lengthy social media post, Will wrote: "In light of my recent experiences I am choosing to take a step back, of sorts, from Twitter.
"Before I do, I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to everybody who has watched ‘Bandersnatch’ and for their responses (whatever they may be) to the material we created.
"I accept all criticisms and it’s been a delight to learn that so many of you enjoyed what many people worked very hard to produce! As we all know there is a balance to be struck in our engagements with social media.
"There are positives to enjoy and inevitable negatives that are best avoided. It’s a balance that I have struggled with for a while now and in the interest of my mental health I feel the time has come to change my relationship with social media."
However, the star insisted he would still be using his account to promote the charities he works with, including an anti-bullying campaign.
Referencing the ‘choose your own adventure’ nature of the Netflix project, he cheekily added: "This is not the end. Consider it an alternative path."
Meanwhile, ‘Black Mirror’ creator Charlie Brooker has admitted the ambitious episode was more difficult to create than he anticipated.
‘Bandersnatch’ put the viewers in control of their own experiences by allowing them to choose where the story would branch off to, with five possible endings each with their own variants.
Asked if he had any advice for people looking at interactive television, the show’s creator quipped: "Run away. It’s harder than you think."
