Billy Corgan open to D’Arcy Wretzky rejoining Smashing Pumpkins

Billy Corgan is seemingly open to letting D’Arcy Wretzky rejoin The Smashing Pumpkins.
The alternative rock band started up again in 2006 after disbanding in 2000 with Billy, permanent drummer Jimmy Chamberlin and guitarist Jeff Schroeder.
Last week, original bass player D’Arcy admitted she is keen to rejoin the band after 17 years out of it after she was fired in 1999 for "being a mean spirited drug addict who refused to get help".
Billy has now made a social media post in which he has admitted he is "encouraged" that the 47-year-old rocker is making music again and apparently leaving the door open for her to return.
While wishing ‘D’Arcy a Happy Birthday, the 49-year-old singer wrote on the band’s official Facebook page: "Speaking of those I’ve been fortunate enough to share the stage with, I see that it’s D’arcy Wretzky’s birthday today: So a big and happy B-Day to her from here! I’m encouraged to hear that she is playing music once more, and writing songs. As I’ve often said, no one had better musical discernment in our band than she. (sic)"
Billy reunited with Smashing Pumpkins co-founder and guitarist James Iha for their ‘In Plainsong’ tour last month, the first time they’ve performed together in 16 years.
After the run of dates which concluded in Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday (01.05.16), Billy expressed his desire to continue Smashing Pumpkins as he signed off the message saying "see you next tour".
His post stated: "Sometimes the written word has a different emotive power, and I want to express my gratitude to all the many fans that came out during this incredible tour that wrapped up last night in Ft. Lauderdale; which also featured a guest vocal appearance by my niece Ava (during Lily and Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door). So again, THANK YOU to everyone who bought a ticket. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to put on such a beautiful show.
"Also, my appreciation to Jeff Schroeder, Jimmy Chamberlin, Katie Cole, and Sierra Swan for their absolute dedication each and every night. I am absolutely blessed to play with such incredible and kind musicians.
"As I head home, it’s crazy to think that it was nearly 30 years ago that I began this wild and wooly journey, and that meeting James [Iha], then D’arcy, then Jimmy [Chamberlin] would alter all of our lives forever; for the better, I would argue. Which I suppose makes the hardships that came too, bittersweet.
"And as I feel speculation start to swirl about what happens next for SP, I’d like to say quite simply and directly that what matters most to Jeff and I is the music. Because from our darkest days together over the last 10 years it’s been our faith that the music we make, and by extension our loving curation of the songs made from the beginning on, that’d sail this old, creaky ship forward to another year.
So see you next tour, wherever and whenever that may be! WPC (sic)"
