Bill Murray planned Clooney prank at Golden Globes

Bill Murray had planned to rush on stage at the Golden Globes as George Clooney was picking up his lifetime achievement award.

The 64-year-old actor reportedly wanted to prank his good friend by storming the stage as the Hollywood actor was being honoured at the awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday night (11.01.15) but decided not to because George ruled against it.

An insider told the New York Post’s Page Six column: "I wish it had happened, it might have made the show more interesting."

George was handed the Cecil B. DeMille Award for outstanding contribution to entertainment at the star-studded ceremony and fortunately for him his ‘Monuments Men’ co-star didn’t storm the stage as that may have affected his acceptance speech, in which he praised his wife Amal Alamuddin.

He said: "It’s a humbling thing when you find someone to love – even better when you’ve been waiting your whole life. And when your whole life is 53 years, Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband."

George also paid tribute to the 3.7 million people who took to the streets in France for a public show of solidarity against the Paris terrorist attacks earlier in the day.

He said: "Today was an extraordinary day. Millions of people marched not just in Paris but all over the world. They were Christians and Jews and Muslims, they were leaders of countries all over the world. And they didn’t march in protest, they marched in support of the idea we will not walk in fear. So, Je Suis Charlie. Thank you."

Hollywood insiders revealed Bill was keen to "pull a Kanye", in reference to Kanye West storming the stage at the VMAs in 2009 when Taylor Swift was being awarded Best Female Video for ‘You Belong To Me’.

The rapper spoilt Taylor’s big moment by snatching the microphone from her and launching into a rant insisting his pal Beyonce Knowles should’ve been given the accolade for her ‘Single Ladies’ video.

He told the blonde stunner: "Yo Taylor. I’m really happy for you, I’m going to let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time."
