Beyonce tops MTV VMA nominations

Beyonce has topped this year’s MTV Video Music Awards nominations.

The ‘Drunk in Love’ hitmaker is up for eight awards including the night’s biggest prize, Video of the Year, while newcomer Iggy Azalea and rapper Eminem are hot on her heels with seven nods apiece.

Beyonce, 32, is also up for Best Female Video and Best Collaboration for her steamy ‘Drunk in Love’ video with husband Jay Z.

Other Video of the Year nominees include Iggy for her ‘Clueless’-inspired video for ‘Fancy’, Pharrell William’s ‘Happy’, Sia’s ‘Chandler’ and Miley Cyrus’ infamous video for ‘Wrecking Ball’.

Australian rapper Iggy has two nominations in the Best Female Video category for both ‘Fancy’ and ‘Problem’, her collaboration with pint-sized songbird Ariana Grande.

Veteran music star Eminem is up for Best Hip-Hop video for ‘Berzerk’ and also has a trio of nods – Best Collaboration, Best Male Video and Best Direction – for his hit song ‘The Monster’, which features a chorus from Rihanna.
