Beyonce to donate new song proceeds to hurricane relief efforts

Beyonce has released a new song and will donate the proceeds to hurricane relief efforts.
The 36-year-old singer shared the Spanish tune, a remix of J Balvin and Willy William’s hit ‘Mi Gente’ – her first single since giving birth to twins Rumi and Sir in June – on her Instagram page, and revealed she will be pledging the track’s income to help victims of the natural disasters.
She wrote: "I am donating my proceeds from this song to hurricane relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico and the other affected Caribbean islands. To help go to Beyonce.com/reliefefforts. (sic)"
Beyonce – who also has five-year-old daughter Blue with husband Jay-Z – has shared a list of several relief efforts around the world on her website, and admitted she was "heartbroken" by the tragic recent events.
She said on her website: "We’re heartbroken by the hurricanes and earthquakes that have devastated families around the world.
"There are many ways to help. We’ve listed a few organizations that are on the ground from Mexico to the Caribbean, lending a hand to those who need it most."
Hurricane Harvey destroyed parts of Texas earlier this month and later Hurricane Irma then devastated the Caribbean and Florida.
Some of the Caribbean islands were then hit again by Hurricane Maria less than 10 days ago, and Mexico was struck by a trio of earthquakes in September, the most devastating registered at 8.1 magnitude, resulting in the deaths of more than 300 people.
Puerto Rico was hit by Hurricane Maria, leaving all 3.5 million islanders without power.
Beyonce recently returned to her home city of Houston, Texas, to perform for the victims of Hurricane Harvey and gave an emotional speech.
She told the crowd: "I just wanna say that I’m home. This church is my home. I was maybe nine or 10 years old the first time I sat there where my daughter is sitting. I sang my first solo here and I just wanna thank you for lifting my family up, for praying for me, and for being such an incredible example of what light and love is.
"This today is a celebration of survival. Ya’ll are my family. Houston is my home. I thank God that you’re safe, your children are safe. I think that really matters is your health and your children and your family. I just wanna say I love you. I’ve been blessed so that I can bless other people and I ask of God to continue to do that for other people."
