Beverley Callard is among the ‘Coronation Street’ stars to pay tribute to their late co-star Anne Kirkbride.
The 57-year-old actress, who plays Anne’s character Deirdre Barlow’s pal Liz McDonald in the ITV soap, has spoken of her love for her long-time co-star following her shock passing last night (19.01.15).
She wrote on Twitter: "My beautiful darling friend, Anne Kirkbride, passed away in a room filled with love. God Bless, my Darling Girl! Peace and rest! (sic)"
Kym Marsh – who plays Rovers Return landlady Michelle Connor – confessed she was "devastated" to hear the beloved soap star had died aged 60.
She said: "Cannot describe how devastated we all are. Sleep tight gorgeous lady we will miss you ridiculous amounts RIP Annie x (sic)."
Anne’s on-screen daughter Kate Ford (Tracy Barlow) admitted she was "heartbroken" to lose her "crazy funny" friend and colleague.
She wrote: "Heartbroken at the losee of my friend and beautiful on screen mummy. The most crazy funny 100 per cent human. My life was enriched by her (sic)."
Meanwhile, Ian Puleston-Davies, 56 – who plays builder Owen Armstrong – also opened up about losing Anne, who he claims was as "colourful" off-screen as on.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "She was such a colourful character on and off set – very different but very alike in so many ways.
"To meet her in person she shone brighter than even Deirdre did."
