‘Bedridden’ Alex Warren cancels Auckland show after falling ill hours before stage time

Alex Warren was forced to cancel his concert at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Monday night (24.08.26), pulling out just hours before he was due onstage due to illness.

The Ordinary hitmaker – who is currently on his Finding Family on the Road World Tour and gearing up to release his second studio album Wildchild later this week – was left heartbroken after he was left “bedridden” and struggling to “talk let alone sing”.

In a social media statement, he said: “I never have to do this and it breaks my heart to even write this but I have to cancel tonight’s show.

“I have tried everything to be able to make this show work and I’m sadly bedridden sick at the moment. I can barely talk let alone sing and it sadly isn’t possible to play tonight’s show.

“I understand what it takes to be able to attend concerts and the fact so many of you travelled for this one has made this decision even more difficult. I love you so much and hope you understand.”

Promoter Frontier Touring wrote: “Alex is devastated to miss the show and has been looking forward to performing for his Auckland fans.

“He sincerely thanks fans for their understanding and support.”

Automatic refunds were given to ticketholders.

The 25-year-old singer is next due onstage in Sydney, Australia, on August 28, the same day his new album is dropping.

It’s not known whether he will be fit enough in time for the gig Down Under.

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran recently admitted he was “jealous” of mega-hit Ordinary.

The 35-year-old singer made the admission when he and Alex performed a duet of the 2025 track during Ed’s Loop Tour gig in San Diego in July.

He explained to the crowd: “I met someone last year who released a song that I was jealous of. I loved the song.

“I got in touch with him, and I was like, ‘We should sing this song together, I love this song.’

“He sent me an email yesterday, and he said, ‘Can me and my family come to your gig in San Diego?’

“And I was like, yes, but I would like to sing with you.”

Ordinary spent 11 consecutive weeks at No.1 on the UK chart, marking the longest-running No.1 in the UK by a US male solo act in more than 70 years and the joint longest-running No.1 of the 2020s, tied with Ed’s Bad Habits.
