BBC responds to Pussycat Doll’s One Show routine complaints

The BBC has defended the Pussycat Dolls over their ‘One Show’ performance.
The ‘Don’t Cha’ hitmakers sparked 119 complaints for their pre-watershed routine last month, and now the broadcaster has revealed the show’s team "worked with the band to ensure their performance was suitable".
In a statement, the Beeb said: "The Pussycat Dolls are well known for their dance routines and outfits and we announced at the start of the show that they would be appearing.
"Their performance then came towards the end of the programme, just before 8pm.
As with all performers, we worked with the band to ensure their performance was suitable for the programme.
"We felt it was appropriate for the time slot and wouldn’t fall outside the expectations of most viewers. However, we appreciate that some viewers didn’t agree."
BBC also addressed another segment of the programme focused on "cosmetic procedures", with some viewers complaining about the scheduling.
The statement continued: "The programme also included a film which looked at cosmetic procedures which are being purchased by children, without the need for parental consent or appropriate checks.
"We believe this film highlighted an important issue. We have noted that some viewers felt that these two items shouldn’t have been included in the same programme."
The BBC’s comment comes after singer Kimberley Wyatt defended the group – completed by Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts and Jessica Sutta – from critics after previous performances on ‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ and ‘The X Factor’.
The 38-year-old star is adamant there is nothing wrong with their choice of stage clothes and is more than happy for her daughters Willow, five, and Maple, two, to watch her sing.
She argued: "They love it, they love seeing it and I love bringing them.
"[I love] teaching them what it means to be a Pussycat Doll and own your space as a female.
"I think it’s a really positive and important message for my girls to see and understand what that means."
