BBC ‘planning Strictly Come Dancing dating spin-off’

BBC bosses are said to be planning a ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ dating spin-off.
The broadcaster is reportedly set to capitalise on the romantic side of ballroom for ‘Dance Crush’, which would see singletons pairing up in the name of love while they build up a connection by busting a move.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "’Dance Crush’ is being made by the team behind ‘Strictly’, a show which just oozes [seduction].
"Over the years it has seen dancers hook up with their celebrity partners after finding powerful chemistry on the dancefloor.
"BBC Studios are now taking the bull by the horns and making a dating show, which starts with finding that chemistry on the dancefloor."
The programme – which is set to air on BBC Three this summer – will tide viewers over while ‘Strictly’ is off the air until the new series towards the end of 2020.
The show comes after the likes of Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell – as well as 2018 champions Kevin Clifton and Stacey Dooley – have struck up a romance during their time on the dancefloor, while Rachel Riley also met her now-husband Pasha Kovalev on the show almost seven years ago.
Caroline Flack – who won ‘Strictly’ in 2014 with pro Pasha – previously explained there are many similarities between a dance partnership and a more intimate relationship.
She explained: "It’s never just about one person. Being in a ‘Strictly’ couple is like being in a relationship. You have to have all those same traits. It’s a partnership.
"You have the trust, honesty, communication. Get rid of the romantic bit. You don’t do it on your own."
