Bat For Lashes Natasha Khan goes ‘wild’ for Sexwitch

Bat For Lashes singer Natasha Khan enjoyed going "wild" for the Sexwitch album.
The Mercury Prize nominated singer has revealed she would like to return to the experimental Sexwitch project she worked on with producer Dan Carey – who made a record of psych-rock and folk songs from around the world – because she loved perfecting the unusual singing technique and orgasmic screams.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the Mercury Prize nominations launch in London on Thursday (04.08.16) the 36 year old said: "I would love to do another Sexwitch album, it was so much fun. I got to go really wild when I was singing, all these orgasmic screams."
And the star was sad to see the project come to an end so quickly.
She explained: "It [the Sexwitch project] seemed to come and go so fast and I really hope it becomes a kind of cult record."
Natasha also enjoyed working on an album where she wasn’t the sole focus because it took the "pressure" off her shoulders, although she is very much in the spotlight again with her fourth record ‘The Bride’, which has earned her the prestigious prize nomination alongside the late David Bowie, Radiohead, Michael Kiwanuka, Laura Mvula and Skepta.
Natasha has admitted she’s very grateful her upcoming track has been recognised for an award.
The ‘Laura’ hitmaker explained: "It feels very emotional and surreal. I feel very emotional because it’s been a long road making this record."
Although Natasha is aware she is up against some good talent.
She said: "I really like the Bowie record and I like Laura, and I haven’t listened to it all but the Anhoni record is very interesting. I mean all of them are great."
Natasha has made some tentative plans for the prize money if she does win.
She said: "I’d probably give some to charity and also spend it on a small recording studio."
The six finalists and the overall winner will be announced at the 2016 Hyundai Mercury Prize ceremony held on September 15 at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.
