Former ‘Hollyoaks’ star Ashley Slanina-Davies "didn’t expect" Ryan Knight’s shock bi-sexual story.
The 27-year-old actress bowed out of the long-running soap earlier this year after her alter-ego Amy Barnes was murdered on her wedding night after she married the policeman (Duncan James) – just hours after her beau slept with secret lover Kyle Kelly – and she has admitted she was just as surprised about the twist as fans were – even though she knew about it from the script.
Speaking to The Sun Online, she said: "I knew about it but I don’t think I expected it. I don’t think it detracts from anything we had in our storyline."
Before her tragic death, Amy and Ryan were planning to run off to America with her children Leah and Lucas and, although the hunk cheated on her, Ashley doesn’t think their relationship was a lie.
She explained: "I think all of it was genuine feelings and genuine emotions and I think that on the whole that Ryan, with the children, he really cares about them."
And Ashley wasn’t the only one surprised by the bi-sexual storyline as Duncan couldn’t believe it when he found out his alter-ego was such a "k***" to the blonde beauty.
He said previously: "I didn’t know that at all, they threw that one on me. "I think as me reading the script I felt really sad for Amy, and my character, I thought ‘Oh you absolute b*****d, how could you do that to her on your wedding night? going off to have sex with a man’. He’s already cheated with Mercedes McQueen on Christmas Day. I thought ‘Oh you k*** what are you doing now?’ "
