Asan N’Jie wants Idris Elba as Emmerdale dad

‘Emmerdale’ newcomer Asan N’Jie wants Idris Elba to play his dad.
The former ‘Mount Pleasant’ actor has landed the part of Jessie Grant’s (Sandra Marvin) son Ellis in the ITV soap, and he has set his sights high on who might be cast as his on-screen father – admitting the ‘Luther’ star or even Will Smith would be ideal.
When asked who could portray his dad, he said: "Maybe Idris Elba could play him, or Will Smith."
Asan still can’t believe he has landed a part on ‘Emmerdale’ after watching the soap for his whole life, and he loves working with Sandra.
He added: "After each scene, I’m pinching myself – I’m on a soap and a show I’ve been watching all my life.
"Sandra’s really warm and friendly. When we met each other at the screen test, we knew it was going to be a good vide from there."
Ellis will make his Dales debut next week when he first rocks up as a potential love interest for Victoria Barton (Isabel Hodgins), but will later be revealed as the son of Hotten Academy headteacher Jessie.
The pair will arrange to go on a date, but things turn nasty when he begins flirting with some other girls in the Woolpack and hero Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) steps in to defend her.
Woolie chef Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), who is dating Jessie, steps in to diffuse the brawl, but the cook gets injured in the process.
He later explains the situation to Jessie, who is shocked when she sees Ellis.
