Ariana Grande believes she’s been cheated on before.
The 21-year-old singer – who has dated The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes and Jai Brooks in the past – is "99.9 percent" sure a former flame was once unfaithful behind her back and the experience has inspired her new song ‘Break Your Heart Right Back.’
She told Attitude magazine of the track: "It’s about a boy who cheats on a girl with another boy.
"That’s a very fun concept. Well, originally it was going to be about a boy who cheats with a girl, but then I was like, ‘No, I want it to be about a boy who cheats on a girl with another boy.’ "
She added to the Metro newspaper: "It’s one of my favourites on the album [‘My Everything’] and it’s really funny because I believe it has happened to me. I’m not 100 percent positive, but I’m 99.9 percent positive.
"I would rather he cheats on me with a guy than with a girl any day! If I found out my boyfriend was gay, I would be like ‘OK!’ I’d be so relieved."
However, the ‘Problem’ hitmaker has since taken to her Twitter account to claim the track doesn’t necessarily refer to an ex-boyfriend, but is something she’s experienced a "long time ago."
She tweeted: "People loooove twisting my words lol. I never said "my ex". so don’t trip. It was a a looooong time ago…. and it made for a great song. (sic)."
