Aqua to reunite for 20th anniversary

Aqua are to reunite for the 20th anniversary of ‘Barbie Girl’.
The Europop group – comprised of Lene Nystrom, Rene Dif, Soren Rasted and Claus Norreen – have announced a 2017 tour in their hometown of Denmark.
According to The Sun newspaper, the shows are to mark two decades since the release of the number one track, which was released in 1997.
Their debut LP ‘Aquarium’ included the hits ‘Doctor Jones’ and ‘Roses Are Red’.
After the release of their second record, 2000’s ‘Aquarius’, they decided to call it a day.
At the time, they told Billboard magazine: "We have looked each other straight in the eye and reached the conclusion that, for the moment, the spark is missing."
However, in 2007 they regrouped to mark their 10 year anniversary with a reunion tour.
They had planned 25 dates across Denmark, Canada, America and the UK, however, they ended up doing just eight in Denmark for Gron Koncert festival.
Aside from 2011’s ‘Megalomania’, Aqua dropped a greatest hits record in 2009 with 16 old remastered tracks and three new songs, ‘My Mamma Said’, ‘Live Fast, Die Young’ and ‘Back to the 80s’.
In 2014, Aqua did a run of shows in Auckland and Australia, which concluded on November 3 in Melbourne.
A list of tour dates are yet to be confirmed by the band.
