Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway getting new presenter and name in US

‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ is moving to the US with a new name and new presenter Neil Patrick Harris.

The presenting duo, who are both 39, chose to "take a step back" from the screen for ‘Best Night Ever’, the American version of their popular ITV show, as they’ve got their hands full for the next two years hosting ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ as well as ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ on British telly.

Declan Donnelly said: "We had to make a decision as to whether we sell the format in the States and we don’t do it, or we hang on to it until we have time to do it ourselves and pitch it with us involved.

"And we took a decision that it would be better to take the format and take a step back from it."

While Dec and Anthony McPartlin won’t be fronting ‘Best Night Ever’, they said that, as executive producers, they’ll be "heavily involved" in the creative process, making sure it has a similar mix of comedy sketches, game show elements and will involve star guests, like ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’.

The two have admitted, however, that giving up their BAFTA-winning show has been "bitter-sweet", but wish Neil Patrick Harris "good luck" and said "he’s the best host for the show."

Speaking to BBC News, Dec said: "We’ve been involved in ‘Takeaway’ since day one. Then to pass that over to someone else to go and do it in a different country is a weird old feeling."

Ant added: "[It’s] quite bitter-sweet."
