Ant and Dec thrilled to be awarded OBEs

Ant and Dec hope to inspire young people to chase their dreams after they were handed OBEs by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth.
The award-winning duo, who made their on-screen debuts 27 years ago, aged 13, have revealed their pride and joy at having been recognised by the monarchy for their work in the TV industry.
In a joint statement, the duo – whose real names are Declan Donnelly and Anthony McPartlin – said: "We are just two ordinary lads from the west end of Newcastle.
"We hope us receiving this honour can inspire young people to chase their dreams and believe that anything is possible."
What’s more, Ant and and Dec, both 40, said that the honour is sure to make their parents more proud of them then any previous award they have won.
The popular duo shared: "This will definitely be the proudest our mams have ever been."
Ant and Dec first met on the long-running kids’ drama ‘Byker Grove’, which was followed by a brief move into the music industry, when they started going by the name PJ and Duncan.
Subsequently, however, they have become better known for hosting some of the most popular shows on British TV, including ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’.
Elsewhere,’Downton Abbey’ actress Penelope Wilton becomes a Dame for her services to drama, while Brian Blessed has been handed an OBE.
The 79-year-old actor said: "I am absolutely delighted.
"It is marvellous that the son of a Yorkshire coal miner should be given such an honour.
"A huge thank you to all of the people that nominated me."
