Ant and Dec confirm return of SM:TV Live in 2018

Ant and Dec have confirmed that ‘SM:TV Live’ will return in 2018.
The Geordie duo – who have scooped numerous National Television Awards for their TV hosting- have announced that the children’s TV show, which propelled their presenting careers back in 1998, is set to return to screens to mark its 20th anniversary.
Ant and Dec, who hosted the show alongside Cat Deeley, first teased that they would like to revive the show when they all reunited on the last show of the latest series of ‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Take Away’.
And speaking at the TV Bafta’s on Sunday (15.05.17) after their ITV show won Best Entertainment Programme, they confirmed the return of ‘SM:TV Live’.
Ant said: "ITV have just agreed…"
Dec interjected: "We came back and ITV said ‘oh so you’ve re-commissioned it on air have you?’ but they’re on board now and we’ve had first discussions about it and it looks like it’s going to go ahead, not this September but next August/September."
Ant added: "It will be 20 years to the year. We can’t have the same studio unfortunately as it’s all getting changed around but we are getting the team back together. It will be three hours, but we are in our forties now."
‘SM:TV Live’ was broadcast on ITV from 9.25am on a Saturday morning for three hours between 1998 and 2003.
The award-winning show featured skits including ‘The Beautiful Corrs’, a parody of US sitcom’ Friends’, ‘Pokemon’ fights plus ‘Wonkey Donkey’ game.
The pair also scooped Best Live Event after fronting The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration on ITV last May.
