Anneka Rice in Strictly Come Dancing trousers snub

Anneka Rice’s request to wear trousers on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ was snubbed.
The 60-year-old star was keen to wear some glitzy sequin-covered slacks for her opening foray onto the ballroom floor, but she was handed a dress and says the tiny outfits seem to be getting "shorter and shorter".
She said: "The first time I turned up for a fitting, I asked to wear trousers, but this tiny dress appeared. And it seems to have gotten shorter and shorter.
"When I met the other contestants, Michelle Visage oozed New York glamour and I oozed Deep Heat and massive insecurity.
"It feels utterly weird and I’m definitely not ‘Strictlyfied’ yet. I have said I would like every week to be in some kind of trouser, but no one listened to me for the first week so who knows?"
The former ‘Challenge Anneka’ star was "50/50" about whether she was able to do the show at all after suffering a shoulder tear following a fall.
She added to Radio Times magazine: "I injured my shoulder after falling on a slippery slope in my neighbours garden and ended up in A&E.
"I had a cortisone injection and was called in to see the producers and was told it was 50/50 whether I could still do ‘Strictly’.
"Thankfully, it ended up fine. The show must go on."
Anneka recently admitted she finds dancing "embarrassing and humiliating".
She said: "I genuinely have never danced, I’ve got a real thing about dancing – I find it embarrassing and humiliating.
"I was [kicked out] of my dance class when I was a child for being lumpy and un-coordinated.
"It’s a real barrier. No one’s ever seen me dance, not my family at a wedding, disco, club, never. I’m the one holding the coats.
"There probably won’t be anyone out there who hasn’t done it, because everyone has danced, but I haven’t."
