Anne Hegerty is loving self-isolation despite tough circumstances

Anne Hegerty feels "slightly guilty" about enjoying isolation amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The 61-year-old star – known for her role as a top quizzer on ITV’s ‘The Chase’ – admitted the UK being in lockdown "actually really suits" her, although she’s sympathetic to people who are struggling.
Appearing on ‘Good Morning Britain’ via video link on Wednesday (01.04.20), she said: "I feel really slightly guilty about it, but honestly I am literally the luckiest person in the UK right now, because I am absolutely fine staying on my own and I’ve been thinking for ages how wonderful it would be to have a nice, long guilt-free sabbatical.
"So, to be honest, this is working for me, if I just wasn’t worrying about how it’s not working for other people, obviously.
"Apart from missing recording ‘The Chase’, this actually really suits me."
Anne has been taking part in online quizzes to keep her mind sharp after the ITV programme had to postpone filming due to the ongoing outbreak.
She added: "I miss recording ‘The Chase’. We had a whole load of programmes going to be recorded that had to be postponed.
"I’m quizzing like mad. There’s a group opened on Facebook called Wiki Quiz, where people are setting enormous numbers of quizzes.
"I’m actually having to ration myself. I’m telling myself I can only do three of those quizzes a day. Literally I could spend all day doing them, it’s dreadful."
ITV recently confirmed ‘The Chase’ will still be on air with pre-recorded episodes, while a new prime-time programme ‘Beat The Chasers’ is set to air soon.
‘The Chase’, which airs weekdays at 5pm, sees four strangers work together as a team to answer general knowledge questions on this quiz show in a bid to win as much cash as possible and not get caught out by their opponent, one of the Chasers.
The spin-off ‘Beat the Chasers’ will see quizzers go up against contestants together.
