Anne Hegerty facing The Chase Australia visa issue

Anne Hegerty and Mark Labbett cannot get working visas to film ‘The Chase Australia’.

The 61-year-old quiz master admitted she and her co-star are "a little bit stuck" because they aren’t able to fly out to Australia amid the coronavirus pandemic, and the pair are having issues getting hold of work visas.

Appearing on ‘Good Morning Britain’, Anne told Lorraine Kelly: "I was supposed to go in March and then it didn’t happen. It was suggested that I go next month.

"The thing is, those in Australia can’t get a work visa for me, they can’t get work visas for me or Mark.

"So we’re kind of a little bit stuck at the moment. But again, we’d like to get out there as soon as we can."

Anne has appeared on the Australian version of the ITV quiz show since it premiered in 2015, with Mark – who also stars in the US version – joining the show the following year.

It comes as ‘The Chase’ has launched an interactive new series over two weeks where fans are asked 10 questions by one of the expert quizzers in special 15-minute episodes across Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.

The first week saw Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan take on Chaser duty for the 6pm online specials, while the following week will allow fans to test their skills against Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace.

It comes after the latest spin-off show ‘Beat The Chasers’ proved to be a big hit with viewers during the coronavirus lockdown in April, and Anne has now confirmed that a second series is already being eyed-up by TV bosses.

She said: "We’re definitely looking to do more as soon as we can.

"We knew when we were filming it that this was a really good show, we were saying to each other, ‘This is really exciting, we are having such close finishes.’

"We thought it would go down well but the ratings were just tremendous. I’m very glad that we got that under our belts before lockdown began – we filmed in late January and early February so it’s brilliant we got it in."
