Angus Deayton axed from Bake Off: Creme de la Creme

Angus Deayton has been axed from ‘Bake Off: Creme de la Creme’.
The 62-year-old TV presenter has been dropped as the host of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ spin-off programme – which sees professional chefs compete against each other – with bosses of the show deciding that he wasn’t the right fit.
A source explained: "It was always a bit of a strange pairing anyway.
"Angus openly admits he’s not a cook and looked like a fish out of water throughout his time on the show. Channel 4 decided he was the wrong person for the job so looked elsewhere."
Angus – who previously hosted ‘Have I Got News for You’ – is to be replaced on the programme by two co-hosts, former ‘Great British Bake Off’ contestant Liam Charles and stand-up comedian Tom Allen.
However, Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden have both been retained by TV bosses at Channel 4.
The insider told The Sun newspaper: "Liam knows his way around the ‘Bake Off’ tent and they hope Tom will bring good humour."
The spin-off show has also been renamed ‘Bake Off: The Professionals’, with the new episodes set to air later this year.
The programme moved to Channel 4 after the BBC had already lost the rights to ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
A source said at the time: "This is the end of an era as BBC bids goodbye to ‘Bake Off’ once and for all.
"After letting go of the biggest show on TV, clinging to ‘Creme De La Creme’ would have been a way for them to save face. But Channel 4 have even pounced on that in order to truly dominate the ‘Bake Off’ brand."
