Angela Griffin jokes it was ‘tough work’ playing Idris Elba’s love interest

Angela Griffin has joked it was "tough work" playing Idris Elba’s love interest in ‘Turn Up Charlie’.
The 42-year-old actress plays the handsome ‘Luther’ actor’s lover in the upcoming Netflix programme and she readily accepts it wasn’t the hardest role she’s ever taking on in her career.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the press night for new play ‘Admissions’ at Trafalgar Studios in London on Tuesday evening (12.03.19), she said: "I’ve got a show coming out called ‘Turn Up Charlie’ which is a Netflix show with Idris Elba which was quite good. I got to spend quite a bit of time with him! It was lots of fun.
"It was tough work, I was kind of his love interest. It’s a really hard thing I had to do. I took one for the team!"
The brunette beauty – who is best known for her roles in ‘Coronation Street’, ‘Ordinary Lies’ and ‘Waterloo Road’ – is thrilled to be getting offered exciting new types of roles as she progresses in her career but she is proud of all the parts she has played.
She mused: "The highlight of my career, that’s the biggest question ever! I worked in Canada and I lead a series out there and I thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed doing that but every single job I do. "Like the first job I ever did in the West End ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ that was pretty amazing! So yeah, lots of highlights!"
