Andy Serkis gets greeted by people saying "my precious" up to "10 times a day".
The 50-year-old actor played Gollum in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy and ‘The Hobbit’ films and says people always address him using the character’s iconic catchphrase.
When asked how often people quote the line at him, he said: "It varies. Between twice and 10 times a day, every day,"
Following the release of the final film, ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ earlier this month, the acclaimed actor said he is proud to have been a part of the franchise because they are timeless and rooted in the real world.
He told The Huffington Post UK: "That’s what these movies are, not just flights of fantasy, they are reflective of the world.
"This latest one’s all about greed and corruption, it couldn’t be more pertinent, and that’s why they endure. The writers understand the zeitgeist."
The ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ star went on to explain he thought Gollum was a good reflection of real world problems because he had an addiction.
He added: "And Gollum was part of that. The ring for him was something that was controlling him to a huge degree, like a huge strong addiction that he couldn’t shake off, that had a physical effect as well as psychological."
