Andi Peters experiencing some of the ‘worst pain ever’ due to shingles

Andi Peters says being struck down with shingles is "some of the worst pain [he’s] ever had", but he hopes to return to work this week.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ and ‘Lorraine’ roving reporter has been having trouble trying to sleep because of the nerve infection, but he is on the mend after the issue forced him to have his first day off sick in 20 years.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ via a phone call, he said: "I’m getting better every day. It’s been some of the worst pain I’ve ever had, and the tenderness of the rash is something I’ve never experienced before."
Show host Lorraine also suffered from shingles in November, and she admitted it was "hellish" and told Andi that she is still suffering some pain as a result.
He said: "Oh, don’t say that, because most of my pain is in my neck.
"The side where the shingles are is the side I sleep on, so it’s made sleeping quite difficult."
But Andi is hoping to be back at work on Wednesday (22.01.20).
He added: "I’ve been able to take the medication, I’ve been feeling so much better.
"I’m going to aim to be back … because I’ve had 12 days off now, maybe even 14 … to come and do Wednesday’s show with you.
"I’m not contagious, and I’ll be as bright and bubbly as usual."
Andi travels around a lot as part of his roving reporter role, and he believes his jet setting lifestyle "caught up with [him]".
He said: "I do take a lot of precautions. I try to make sure I’m well hydrated. I do all the things, because I’m well aware I do travel a lot, but it caught up with me."
Last week, Susanna Reid revealed live on ‘GMB’ that Andi had been struck down with shingles.
She said: "Sorry, I’ve just got some breaking news from Andi Peters’ sick bed. He’s got shingles. First day off in 20 years."
Her fellow host Piers Morgan then said: "Shingles, how do you get shingles?"
Susanna replied: "It’s chicken pox for adults."
‘GMB’ newsreader Ranvir Singh added: "It’s really bad."
Piers admitted the show was "not the same" without Andi.
He said: "I feel sorry for Andi, it’s not the same without you mate. Sorry about your shingles. Hope you get well soon."
