Amy Walsh’s Emmerdale ‘anxiety’ at fire plot

Amy Walsh felt "anxious" when she was told her ‘Emmerdale’ character would be involved in a "huge fire".
The 32-year-old actress’ alter-ego Tracy Metcalfe’s life looks set to hang in the balance when she is trapped in the Sharmas’ factory when a blaze breaks out, and Amy admits she is prepared for her character to be killed off.
She said: "I was told that Tracy was going to be involved in a huge fire at the factory and I was like, ‘No!’
"So I was anxious, because that’s how the soap world is. You have to be prepared for your character possibly being written out one day."
Amy admits shooting the fire scenes was her biggest challenge as an actor, and it left her needing "a stiff gin" afterwards to steady her nerves.
She added to We Love TV magazine: "It was an intense day on set for me, because I had so much screaming and crying to do.
"When the building exploded I could feel the impact of the blast and the flames were boiling hot.
"It’s 100 per cent the most challenged I’ve been as an actor. It took a toll on me both physically and emotionally.
"I needed a stiff gin to steady my nerves at the end of the day, then switched off at home by watching ‘Love Island’."
While it’s not known if Tracy will perish in the inferno or not, ‘Emmerdale’ producer Laura Shaw recently admitted the character’s life will "never be the same again" after the fire.
She said: "Will Tracy get out in time? It’s safe to say there are heart-breaking scenes ahead for the villagers and that Tracy’s life will never be the same again."
