Amy Schumer blamed herself for shootings

Amy Schumer felt responsible for the 2015 killings of Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson.
The 35-year-old comedian has revealed she blamed herself in the immediate aftermath of the murders of Mayci, 21, and Jillian, 33, who were watching a screening of Amy’s hit movie ‘Trainwreck’ in Lafayette when they were fatally injured by gunman John Russel Houser.
Amy admitted: "It’s like yes, of course, yes, you connect to that, two women were murdered. But knowing it was my movie, and … that they went and they bought tickets and wanted to go see this movie, it just crushed me. I felt so powerless.
"And it felt a little bit like something that I had done, that there was a connection to me actually hurting people.
"I didn’t really know how to react. I was so upset. [Then] I got really angry, and I was like, this is not OK. I want to really do something."
In response to the incident, Amy threw her support behind the campaign to introduce tighter gun controls in the US.
And the Hollywood star said the issue is one she remains passionate about to this day.
She told the ‘Lenny Letter’ series: "I started going to events and meeting all these families of victims.
"I am a lifer, I am in this. I really hope I don’t have to die for it, but I would."
Indeed, Amy – who wrote and starred in ‘Trainwreck’ – acknowledged that her position on the issue of gun control has made her an obvious target.
She explained: "Security is up. I’m really trying to protect myself. I am not being an idiot."
