Amy Adams doesn’t enjoy playing nice characters

Amy Adams avoids playing nice characters.
The 42-year-old actress – who has portrayed the likes of Lois Lane in ‘Man of Steel’ and Giselle in ‘Enchanted – has admitted she can’t help but turn her nose up when she receives a role that’s too likeable and good-natured.
Speaking at the Venice Film Festival in Italy, she said: "[I always ask director, ‘Why do you want me to play this?’ And if they ever tell me it’s because they want someone likable, I don’t want to play it."
The strawberry blonde beauty has just wrapped up playing linguist Dr Louise Banks in the newly released film ‘Arrival’, which deals with an alien aircraft landing on Earth, and has admitted she relished the chance to play her because, despite her special abilities, she is also a regular woman.
She explained: "She didn’t feel strange to me. She felt like every woman I know who’s struggling with hard things, who’s working through personal issues while also heading out into the world and handling life and work. It’s a constant balance. It’s a constant juggling act."
Meanwhile, although she’d like to have her alter ego’s super powers, she has admitted she would be riddled with anxiety if she could see into the future – like her character.
She told People magazine: "I think I would be anxious. A great choice we have as humans is to appreciate the moments in between the big moments. I don’t want to know."
