Amal Clooney has splashed out $3,700 on post-wedding gifts for her new husband.
The 36-year-old lawyer has treated her new beau George Clooney to 12 handmade $100 cocktail glasses from Venice – where they enjoyed a long weekend celebrating their nuptials after tying the knot there last month – and a 12-piece set of matching silk napkins complete with napkin holders for $2,500.
A source said: "Amal loves the idea of them having the same cocktail glasses that they use at the Cipriani Hotel in Venice.
"George admired them every time he looked at them during the wedding celebrations and they didn’t have time to go shopping in Venice, so she’s ordered them in as a post-wedding gift for him."
Amal is planning to put the colourful tumblers at their new £10 million marital home, in the small village of Sonning Eye, Oxfordshire, central England.
The source added to E!: "It means that every time they curl up with a cocktail at home they’ll think of their wedding and be reminded of all the happy memories."
Amal – who revealed she had taken George’s surname, replacing her moniker Alamuddin, on her law firm Doughty Street Chambers’ website earlier this week – is currently in Greece, where she is advising the country’s government on getting Britain to return the Elgin Marbles.
The cocktail glasses and napkins are not the only present Amal has gifted George following their nuptials as she recently purchased two pooches for the 53-year-old actor.
The barrister forked out on two cocker spaniels and customised cufflinks inscribed with his first name in Arabic ahead of their wedding.
