Alicia Keys asked to be dismissed from $16.5m car scam lawsuit

Alicia Keys has asked to be dismissed from the lawsuit filed against her and her husband in which they are both accused of being involved in a luxury car scam.
The 36-year-old singer and her spouse Swiss Beatz were slapped with a $16.5 million lawsuit back in September in which Metro Gem Leasing accused them of reselling or fraudulently using luxury cars – including a $155,000 Range Rover and a Ferrari F12 worth $600,000 – leased in the 39-year-old rapper’s name, according to website The Blast.
Metro Gem Leasing claimed the cars were being used even though the pair had allegedly defaulted on fives leases, avoided repossession and still owe loads of cash.
However, Alicia has now asked to be taken off the lawsuit as she is adamant she had nothing to do with the lease agreement and her name wasn’t on any of the documents.
The musician has claimed as far as she was aware the vehicles had been returned to the company and has accused them of using her name to make more cash.
Swizz – real name is Kasseem Dean – has filed his own lawsuit against the company in which he’s accused Metro of trying to get money out of him due to his celebrity status.
The legal battle came just a month after the ‘If I Ain’t Got You’ hitmaker caused a stir when she turned up to MTV’s Video Music Awards with no make-up on.
In a video, the producer said: "Y’all gotta think about that. This is deep. Somebody’s sitting at home mad, because somebody didn’t wear make-up on their face … not your face, but they didn’t put make-up on their face, because they just didn’t feel like wearing make-up. But you’re mad because that person didn’t put makeup to please you? What s**t is this? Because you can do whatever you want to do. Think about it … this is deep."
