Alex Fletcher changes hairstyle for Hollyoaks storyline

Alex Fletcher has undergone a new hair style transformation as part of her ‘Hollyoaks’ storyline – rather than wear a wig.

The 44-year-old star’s character Diane Hutchinson is currently involved in a love triangle with her husband Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) and his father Edward Hutchinson (Joe McGann), and part of the plot involves her waving goodbye to her blonde tresses.

Speaking about her new do on ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’, she said: "I keep looking at myself and going, ‘Ooh, there’s me.’

"It’s a big change. It’s part of the story. They were like, ‘Do you want a wig or do you just want to go for it?’ I like it."

Alex shared a selfie of her new hair alongside her on-screen husband Nick on the set of the lunchtime show.

She wrote: "Thanks @packedlunchc4 for having me & Nick Today …. chatting all things @hollyoaksofficial oh & I’ve got a new hair do thanks to @faganshair #redhairdontcare (sic)"

Alex teased fans there are going to be "major" developments in her love triangle plot over Christmas.

She said: "Christmas is going to be big for us on screen.

"Something major happens, but it’s kind of this love triangle, who she’s going to be with."

And she admitted the whole ‘Hollyoaks’ cast have come together to "make it work" amid filming with new coronavirus pandemic-enforced health and safety guidelines.

She said: "They’re cheating a lot of the positions which we can do with a single camera.

"It’s been OK, you just can’t do any intimate scenes … everyone’s making it work, you’ve got to."
