Alesha Dixon: Len is irreplaceable

Alesha Dixon thinks Len Goodman is irreplaceable.
The 37-year-old singer – who was a judge on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ before defecting to rival show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2012 – is still a big fan of the ballroom contest and is upset head panellist Len is departing at the end of the current series.
And despite a number of professional dancers rumoured to be in the frame to take Len’s seat, Alesha thinks Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell should simply sit on the panel as a trio.
She said: "I am so into ‘Strictly’ – it’ll always hold a special place in my heart. My time on the show is in the past but, when I watch it, I enjoy it so much and I’m proud to be part of the ‘Strictly’ story.
"It’s so sad Len is leaving. I completely understand why, but it is going to feel like the end of an era. I don’t see why they can’t just continue with the three of them.
"How can you replace Len? You can’t! That’s the point."
This year, the 2007 ‘Strictly’ winner is hoping Laura Whitmore will scoop the glitterball trophy, having previously judged MTV contest ‘Pick Me’ – which was looking for a new presenter – in 2008, which saw the Irish star triumph.
She said: "Now Laura is on the show this year, there is even more of a reason to watch. I’ve been out with her and we’ve been dancing and she’s got rhythm, personality and energy – she’s got the lot.
"If I got the chance, I’d love to go to watch her perform live."
Alesha is also looking forward to the 2017 series of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ as she thinks it gets better every year, even though she worries the talent will "run dry ".
She told Closer magazine: "I always worry the talent pool will run dry but I believe there are so many people that have still not auditioned for these shows, they watch the show and get inspired; you never know who will walk through the door.
"I hope the talent doesn’t run out – I’m confident it won’t."
