Aled Jones doesn’t watch The Snowman at Christmas

Aled Jones never watches ‘The Snowman’ over Christmas.
The 45-year-old singer is most famous for singing ‘Walking In The Air’ when he was just 12 for the 1982 animated festive film, based on Raymond Briggs’ children’s picture book.
The Channel 4 TV movie has become an annual watch for many families but Aled and his wife Claire and their children, Emilia, 14, and Lucas, 11, don’t settle down to watch the magical tale about a young boy and his snowman because his kids aren’t interested in his work.
When asked if the short fantasy film is part of his annual festivities, he said: "We don’t! It isn’t part of our Christmas routine. If it’s on the kids might watch it but I haven’t ever made it a family ritual! If I did that the kids would be like, ‘I don’t get it dad.’ My kids literally don’t care what I do.
"My kids don’t care what I do as long as I’ve got enough money to buy Lucas Lego he’s happy."
And the former ‘Daybreak’ presenter has revealed he couldn’t watch ‘The Snowman’ himself as a kid, despite providing the music, because it didn’t air in his native Wales.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "I didn’t see the cartoon for ages because I was from Wales they didn’t play it on Channel 4 Wales."
Aled – who has a new album, ‘One Voice at Christmas’, out now – is looking forward to a traditional Christmas and plans to watch lots of television and feast on seasonal food.
Discussing his festive plans, he shared: "I’ve got two weeks off which will probably be the only two weeks off I’ll have all year so I’m going to really enjoy them and put on about two stone! I do what everybody else does. I eat too much, I drink too much, tell rubbish jokes from crackers and watch loads of telly, that’s about it. For me it’s always been a very family orientated time and a time to close the door and be together. I’m not a big one for Christmas parties or things like that."
