Alan Carr to host Les Dawson TV special

Alan Carr has been asked to host a one-off special to mark the death of Les Dawson.
The 41-year-old comedian has been approached by the late funnyman’s daughter Charlotte – who was just eight months old when he tragically died in 1993 – because she wants to put together a show to celebrate 25 years since the passing of her father.
She said: "It’s my dad’s 25th anniversary this year so we’re doing a show with Alan Carr. We’re in talks at the moment and hoping to get lots of people involved. Alan really looked up to my dad and he’s a good friend of mine. It’s really exciting."
Although Charlotte has already chosen who she wants to host the show, it’s not yet been decided what channel the special will air on as Les was known for his work with ITV and the BBC, while Alan, 41, tends to team up with Channel 4.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "If Les’ fame and friends were involved and Alan was fronting it, all the channels would be interested."
Les – who was known for his hangdog expression – died from a heart attack at just 62 in a hospital in Manchester while he was awaiting the results of a routine check-up.
In his memory, Charlotte had a tattoo of him on her neck and now she’s keen to carve out a career in television just like Les – but she’s more interested in reality TV series.
And, regardless of what she does, she knows the comedian is watching down on her.
She said recently: "Something really weird happened last week. There was a documentary on TV about my dad called ‘Les Dawson Forever’, but the channel wouldn’t work. The light started flickering – it felt like my dad was with me."
