Adrian Chiles voted most gaffe-prone football pundit

Adrian Chiles has been voted the most gaffe-prone TV football pundit.

The TV sports presenter features twice in the list of top ten most embarrassing slip-ups of this season – ahead of Chris Kamara, David Pleat, Jamie Redknapp, and Robbie Savage – thanks to his cringe-inducing one-liners.

The star ranked at number four on the list compiled by Oulala.com, the world’s most evolved free fantasy football game, after he quipped, "I’m trying to get some building work done at the moment, quite seriously. Be careful", while talking about the perils of upsetting Polish football fans.

He also polled at number six due to him promising anyone who was still watching Fulham’s FA Cup Replay with Sheffield United £5, joking, "If you’re still watching, write in and we’ll send you a fiver each". Unsurprisingly, a lot of viewers took him up on the offer.

Matt Le Tissier was crowned the worst of all with his bizarre prediction of, "Who’ll win the league? It’s a coin toss between three of them".

Meanwhile, the late David Coleman, infamous for his "If that had gone in, it would have been a goal" one-liner, was given the title of worst gaffe of all time.

Benjamin Carlotti, Managing Director of Oulala.com, commented: "Part of the beauty of football is that human error still plays a huge role and that goes for commentators and pundits as well as the players.

"A good football verbal clanger never fails to make you smile, so we wanted to celebrate some of this season’s biggest slipups and find out who is the king of the gaffes.

"Adrian Chiles might seem to know a lot about football but he also has an amazing way with words".

Oulala.com – who polled 1,500 British football fans for the survey – is the world’s most advanced fantasy football game is designed to be as close to football reality as possible offering players the chance to create and manage a virtual team.
