Adele to sign biggest record deal worth £90M

Adele is reportedly set to sign a £90 million record deal.
The ‘Hello’ hitmaker is believed to have been offered the staggering sum of money by Sony, who will release her music worldwide, and it will see the pop superstar top Robbie Williams’ contract, who previously held the biggest deal after he was given £80 million by EMI Records in 2002 and Whitney Houston who in 2001 was given £70 million.
An insider at Sony revealed: "We have secured the biggest music star in a generation. This is massive.
"Adele’s deal with her original label XL expired and we’d an existing relationship with her in America.
"The deal is being worked on by our Columbia label in the US, but is worth £90 million and gives Sony the rights to release her future music exclusively around the world."
The deal was brokered by Adele’s manager Jonathan Dickens who, was determined to land the huge sum.
The source told The Sun newspaper: "Jonathan’s been putting it together for a couple of years. He was very aware of her worth in the market and stood firm to push for the £90 million."
The news of the deal comes as the 28-year-old singer – who currently has an estimated fortune of £85 million – has been showered with several awards over the last week.
The ‘When We Were Young’ star was named Songwriter of the Year at the Ivor Novello Awards last Thursday (19.05.16) for the global success of her of her third album ’25’, which was the world’s best-selling album of 2015 with 17.4 million copies sold within the year, and has now sold 19 million copies globally.
And on Sunday (22.05.16) night, Adele scooped four prizes at the Billboard Music Awards, where ’25’ was named Top Billboard 200 Album and ‘Hello’ was named Top Selling Song and she was also crowned Top Artist and Top Female Artist.
A spokesperson for Sony has declined to comment.
