Adele asked Michael Eavis if she could play Glastonbury

Adele asked to play at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
The ‘Hello’ hitmaker reached out to organiser Michael Eavis, who founded the event in 1970, last year to ask if she could headline the music extravaganza, held on his farm near Pilton in Somerset, South West England, at the end of June.
Michael is quoted by the Metro newspaper as saying: "I met Adele last year and she asked if she could do it."
The 27-year-old singer will take to the Pyramid stage at the popular event on the Saturday night (25.06.16) and Michael is convinced she’ll put on a "hell of a show" for festival goers.
However, Michael – who organises the event with his daughter Emily Eavis – was no doubt initially shocked when Adele approached him to play the event as she previously claimed she’d never front a festival due to her fear of large crowds.
She said previously: "I think I have made myself pretty clear on Glastonbury Festival. The crowds are too big."
Adele, who returned to music scene late last year with her LP ’25’ following a four-year hiatus, will join other headlines Muse – who will play on the Friday night (24.06.16) – and Coldplay, who have been tasked with closing the event on Sunday evening (26.06.16).
This year’s festival will also see performances from the likes of
Cyndi Lauper, Simon Garfunkel, The Last Shadow Puppets, Jake Bugg, Beck, Guy Garvey and Ellie Goulding.
