Adam Rickitt’s ‘bizarre life experience’ on Hollyoaks

Adam Rickitt has admitted coming face-to-face with his ‘Coronation Street’ "dad" on ‘Hollyoaks’ was one of the "most bizarre experiences" of his life.
The 41-year-old star was left shocked when he discovered Chris Quinten had been cast at his ‘Oaks’ character Kyle Kelly’s father in the Channel 4 soap, more than 30 years after he played Corrie’s Brian Tilsley, the parent of Adam’s cobbles character Nick Tilsley.
He said: "I’m not sure if any of the ‘Hollyoaks’ audience were alive when I was on ‘Coronation Street’, let alone when Chris Quentin was on it.
"It’s one of the most bizarre experiences of my life to meet the man who played my dad all those years before I played his son on ‘Corrie’."
As well as Chris – who will play Mark – Diana Weston has been cast as Kyle’s mother Carole Kelly, and Adam has teased fans the pair will bring "a lot of comedy" to the soap.
He added to Inside Soap magazine: "Chris is a lovely guy, and Diana Weston, who plays Kyle’s mum, is great.
"They’re very contrasting to Kyle, and the way they play their roles is hilarious.
"Kyle’s so effervescent and outgoing, and you’re really going to see a difference between him and his parents.
"I think it brings a lot of comedy to the show."
Chris played Brian on the cobbles for 11 years until 1989, while Adam portrayed Nick from 1997 to 1999, so the pair didn’t actually act alongside one another on the cobbles.
Adam recently admitted it is an "honour" to have Chris and ‘The Upper Hand’ star Diana on ‘Hollyoaks’.
He said: "It’s an honour to have such well-established actors like Chris and Diana come in to play my parents and I’ve really enjoyed the scenes we’ve filmed so far.
"Plus, at least having parents in the show means Kyle has an excuse to regress into adolescence, which comes quite easily to him."
