AC/DC’s Edinburgh gig fireworks exceeded ‘permitted noise levels’

AC/DC’s fireworks at the end of their concert at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium exceeded “permitted noise levels”.

The Australian rockers headlined the venue on August 21, as part of their Power Up Tour.

And, as reported by the BBC, City of Edinburgh Council received eight complaints from locals about the noise pollution.

The council is now advising that no fireworks are used at the stadium.

Similar complaints were made during Oasis’ three nights at Murrayfield on August 8, 9 and 12.

The council had already riled up frontman Liam Gallagher after they described attendees at the concerts as “mainly middle-aged men who take up more room” and having a “medium to high intoxication” level during a safety briefing last year.

He said: “One second, where do I start here with everyone at the city council? The f****** slags.

“£1 billion pounds we’re bringing to this city over the next three days.£1 billion. But you won’t see any of it because the Lord Provost will be splitting it between (his) posh ugly f****** mates.”

Liam added: “We’re still waiting [for] a f****** apology.”

Meanwhile, Oasis’ hometown shows in Heaton Park in Manchester saw thousands of ticketless fans descended on a grassy slope now dubbed Gallagher Hill. The unofficial viewing spot became a viral sensation during the band’s five-night homecoming run, with crowds gathering to sing along, picnic, and catch glimpses of the stage screens from outside the perimeter fencing.

Initially tolerated, the gatherings soon spiralled into chaos. Some fans attempted to breach security fences, while others clashed in heated exchanges involving thrown bottles, camping chairs, and football chants. Manchester City Council responded by fencing off the area.

Despite the barriers, thousands continued to flock to Gallagher Hill. The council eventually issued a dispersal order and urged fans without tickets to stay away from the park altogether.

Wembley Stadium took a firm stance to avoid similar scenes.

A spokesperson said: “To support with the safe entry and exit of everyone within the stadium, no one is allowed to stand outside any entrance or on the Olympic Steps at the front of the stadium. Non ticket holders will be moved on.”
