Robin Windsor: Dancing helps me through hard times

Robin Windsor has admitted dancing helps him through hard times following the news he’s split from boyfriend Marcus Collins.

The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional and the former ‘X Factor’ contestant have confirmed they’ve decided to call time on their relationship and Robin has spoken about how his career as a dancer helps him to not focus on things like heartbreak.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the press launch of ‘The People’s Strictly’ for Comic Relief, he said: "For me, as a dancer, it doesn’t matter what’s going on in my life whether it be good or bad or ugly or anything like that, the moment I’ve got on my dance shoes and that music comes on you forget everything. It’s the best feeling."

The 35-year-old star – who previously revealed he wanted to marry Marcus – claimed one of the main reasons he loves being involved in the BBC One ballroom dance contest is to see the transformation people make.

He continued: "That’s why thirty years later I’m still going, because it makes me feel great. Whenever anyone comes on Strictly you can just see how happy they are. All my partners really including Patsy [Kensit], Deborah [Meaden], Lisa [Riley] and Anita [Dobson] and now Anna, you just see them all get this new lease of life comes out of them and it’s such an incredible thing to see."

Robin has been paired with Anna Kennedy – who set up schools and support for people with Autism Spectrum Disorders after raising Autistic sons Patrick and Angelo – for the first ever non-celebrity ‘Strictly’ and he’s revealed they have an impressive routine prepared for next week.

He added: "We’re both exhausted at the end [of rehearsals]. It will be the fastest Charleston ever seen on the show. It just gets faster and faster and faster."
