EastEnders are to recreate the soap’s first ever scenes

‘EastEnders’ are to recreate the soap’s first ever scene.

The show’s producers have announced they will use the real sound effects from the opening scenes of the show’s first episode in 1985 as part of an hour-long 30th anniversary special on Thursday February 19.

Speaking about the forthcoming scenes, executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said: "Live week allows us to have some fun while also paying respect to our past. Our Story Producer Alex Lamb had the idea to replicate ‘EastEnders’ first ever scene back when we started planning our anniversary – and it has been lovingly modernised for 2015 by anniversary producer Sharon Batten, our longest serving ‘EastEnders’ writer Rob Gittins and Director Karl Neilson. With little touches like this throughout the week, we will hopefully make Julia Smith and Tony Holland proud of the show they created back in 1985."

The scenes, which will also reference the soap’s first ever line, however, will be different to the show’s original beginning, as they will show characters kicking down the door of number 23 – where Arthur Fowler, Den Watts and Ali Osman found Reg Cox shortly before he died – where three Walford residents will discover ‘Nasty’ Nick Cotton’s dead body.

Although ‘EastEnders’ bosses are keeping the circumstances around the character’s death a secret, they have promised the scenes will be reminiscent of the first episode, and will be just one of a number of twists involved in the series of anniversary episodes.

Elsewhere in the live episodes broadcast throughout the week, February 16-20, viewers will finally discover the identity of the person who killed Lucy Beale on the show almost a year ago.
