Georgia May Foote has split from her fiance.
The 24-year-old actress surprised her ‘Coronation Street’ castmates by revealing she had split from John Sage – who she got engaged to in 2013 – just a few days before filming her final scenes as Katy Armstrong, and insiders say she made the decision to focus on her Hollywood ambitions.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "She had her leaving do from ‘Corrie’ last week. She was telling everyone they’d split up and she was looking forward to a future acting career in America.
"Everyone was very surprised because she has always been very happy with him and never been interested in a showbiz lifestyle. But this will be a new start for her."
Georgia recently admitted she is "excited" to be leaving the soap after four-and-a-half years.
She said: "I’m very excited. I’m a bit sad as well, obviously I’m going to miss loads of people, the crew, the production team, my cast mates and all that, but I’m ready. It’s been nearly five years now so it’s a long stint to do there and I’m excited."
Georgia’s character Katy will ditch the cobbles of Weatherfield for the sunshine of Portugal with her son Joseph after reconciling with her absent mother Linda Armstrong – played by former ‘EastEnders’ star Jacqueline Leonard.
She makes her decision after discovering her dad Owen Armstrong secretly prevented Katy and her sister Izzy from having a relationship with their mum.
