The Libertines for T in the Park

The Libertines will headline T in the Park.

The band – featuring Carl Barat, Peter Doherty, John Hassall and Gary Powell – are the first act to be announced for the Scottish festival which will take place from July 10 – 12.

Following successful albums in 2002 and 2004, the band reformed in 2010 and again in 2014 for performances at Reading and Leeds Festival, and The Forum and Alexandra Palace in London.

The ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’ rockers are currently working on a new record ahead of their headline spot at the major music event, which will this year be held at the new venue of Strathallan Castle in Perthshire.

Festival Director Geoff Ellis said: "The Libertines are a truly iconic British band, revered as cult heroes by a generation of music fans and adored by the Scottish crowd. They chose Scotland as the destination for their live return on home soil last June, and raised the roof of the Barrowlands with two exhilarating shows.

"We can’t wait to welcome them back in what is a historic year for T in the Park, as we take up residency at our beautiful new home, Strathallan Castle. It’s going to be a very special year for T in the Park, and we can’t wait to welcome you all to Strathallan."
