Colin Firth admits training for new movie ‘hurt’

Colin Firth admits training for his role in ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ "hurt".

The 54-year-old actor admits playing the part of British spy Harry Hart in the upcoming film took a lot of preparation as he had to be physically fit but slim enough for his slick suits.

He said: "I loved it. I didn’t love the first month, it hurt but I kept at it for long enough and eventually if you repeat something you’ll get some results.

"I was thrilled, I missed it terribly when it was over."

The ‘King’s Speech’ star confessed it was difficult to perform some of the death defying stunts because of the lack of breathing room in his attire.

He told MTV News: "The stunts we did, actually because they were cut within an inch of our lives, you’re one breakfast away from not closing your buttons.

"When we actually came to do the stunt scenes they had another version of the suit with a little bit more room to manoeuvre."

However, Firth’s co-star Taron Egerton, 25, insists he enjoyed dressing up in the dapper garments as it made him feel manlier.

He explained: "There’s something really wonderful about wearing a suit because it makes you feel very strong, physically able, very capable. So yeah, if you’re ever going to save the world, it’s got to be done in a bespoke suit doesn’t it."

‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ is out in UK cinemas on January 29.
